Cat cafes are booming right now and they’re popular for very good reasons. After all, who wouldn’t want to cuddle with adorable furry cats? Take me for example, I’m definitely more of a dog person and honestly speaking, I’m not fond of cats at all, but I couldn’t resist paying Velvet Friends Cat Cafe a visit when I was at Blue Bay Walk in Macapagal. With their white cozy interiors and decorative furniture, plus their super cute cats and kittens, you won’t be able to help wanting to go inside and hang out, whether with the cats or just with friends.
The cat zone and the dining area in Velvet Friends Cat Cafe is normally separated for hygiene purposes and for the safety of the cats’ heath. But when we went there last month, all the cats are in the dining area because the cat zone was undergoing extensive renovation. To compensate for it, they offered their customers a pre-renovation promo — you get to play with the cats upon entering the cafe for P199 with free ice tea or P249 with free milkshake. I’m not sure if this promo is still ongoing so it’ll be better to call the cafe first before you visit. Being a milkshake lover, I obviously chose the P249 and ordered a strawberry milkshake. Take note, be sure to bring your own socks otherwise you’ll have to pay P50 to buy a pair of socks from them to use on the cat area. That’s actually what happened to me.
Aside from the Strawberry Milkshake, we also ordered an Iced Latte and a cup of Hot Chocolate. I absolutely love the latte art on the hot chocolate! It’s cuteness overload!!
It was already around 8-9pm when we got there so most of the cats were already sleeping, probably tired or exhausted, after all, they’ve been there since morning. Only a handful of cats were still active and playing or walking around. There’s even one cat there who wouldn’t stop returning to the bowl of cat food to eat. He’s just like me, always craving for midnight snacks! Even though the cats were asleep, we still had fun taking photos of their sleeping faces and playing around with the active ones.
Here are some of the adorable cats they have in the cafe:
1. Bengal Cat – I love his wild and exotic fur!
2. Maine Coon – This is my favorite among all the cats. She’s so elegant! I don’t know why but this cat reminds me of Jasmine from Disney’s Aladdin.
3. Canadian Sphynx – Poor hairless cat has a scratch on his leg.
4. Flatnose Shorthair – He looks a lot like Garfield!
5. American Bobtail – I love the way his ears fold!
6. Others – I forgot the breeds of these cute cats.
I took a video of the two Flatnose Shorthair siblings playing with the cat toy. It’s funny how one of them is well-behaved while the other one is so energetic and hyper!
That’s the end of it! I really enjoyed my experience with the cats there. I’ll be sure to go in the morning or afternoon next time, so I’ll be able to play with more active cats. I hope reading this post and seeing the photos of those sweet cats will make you want to visit Velvet Friends Cat Cafe too! By the way, I heard they’ll be adding dogs to their cat cafe, so I guess it’ll be a pet cafe soon, instead of just a cat cafe.
After your stay here, you can also head to Araneta Center to play with Alaskan Malamutes at Wolf & Bear Dog Cafe.
