MaryGold Beachfront Inn (formerly Marina Garden) in El Nido

Choosing a place to stay has always been time-consuming for me whenever I plan to travel. We have a lot of requirements and we want it to fit our price range. Normally, if we find a hotel with a little above average price but is totally worth it, we book it immediately. One of the hotels that we booked that is a little above our budget was our stay in MaryGold Beachfront Inn (formerly Marina Garden) in El Nido. There are actually a lot more hotels around El Nido with a more affordable price but choosing MaryGold Beachfront Inn (formerly Marina Garden) was one of the best decision we did on our last visit to El Nido.

My stay in Marygold Beachfront Inn is one of my most comfortable stays I had out of town.  Honestly speaking, I spent days choosing between one hotel and another and I just couldn’t make up my mind. But I’m glad I was able to make the right choice.

Here is the list of reasons why I decided to stay at MaryGold Beachfront Inn and why I recommend you to do so:

1) Accommodation right by the beach

Whenever we travel to the beach, we always make sure that we stay at a beach front hotel. This is actually one of our biggest factor in choosing a place to stay. We were quite worried at first because we weren’t able to book MaryGold Beachfront Inn’s deluxe room with a beach view that we initially wanted but the standard room was okay as well. We still get to see the beach through the windows!MaryGold Beachfront Inn (formerly Marina Garden) in El Nido

2) Air-conditioned room is life

All of the rooms of MaryGold Beachfront Inn are air-conditioned. I love the air-conditioned room!  Okay, some may think this isn’t necessary especially when the beach is nearby; however, my fiancé hates perspiring. He gets irritated when the weather is unbearably hot, which is why getting an air-conditioned room is so important. Besides, I, myself, like to get back to an air-conditioned room after a tiring day at the beach. It is actually quite refreshing to do so! I know it is bad for the health but the air-conditioner takes a while to fill up the room, and by the time the room is like a day in winter, I’ve already taken a bath and have changed into a new set of dry clothes to prevent getting sick.

3) Inviting brightly colored exterior

When we first arrived at E Nido, I knew that it wouldn’t be hard for me to look for the place. All I needed to look for is a yellow and blue housing. MaryGold Beachfront Inn painted its roof with blue and its walls with yellow and blue. It was so easy to look for it that I didn’t even need to ask for directions. A friend of mine who is currently residing in El Nido also found it easy to find us as well. You really can’t miss it! This is perfect for friends who travel together but decided to stay at separate hotels.

4) A cute small home with beautiful features

The room of MaryGold Beachfront Inn is so adorable! I was actually quite surprised to see the rooms exactly as it is in the photos. The walls of the room are painted yellow and green. They have yellow lights in the room for the guests to be able to sleep soundly at night. Yellow lights are known to be the perfect night light. I really wasn’t expecting them to have dim yellow lights but I loved it nevertheless. They also have a lot of cute decorations to make the guest feel welcomed.  There are potted plants and flowers on the table and little shelves by the wall with adorable decors. The room is filled with picture frames of flowers and nature as well. Staying in this room reminds me of a young-hearted grandmother’s room.

5) Room for three, please

Most hotels only provide rooms for two, however, all of MaryGold Beachfront Inn’s rooms are good for three. There is a double bed and a single bed in each room. The rooms are priced for two, though, but the charge for the additional person is only around ₱500. If you divide the room charge and the additional head charge by 3, it is still quite affordable. Friends who plan to travel together to El Nido would save a lot when they book MaryGold Beachfront Inn as their accommodation! I slept on the double bed and used our single bed as a storage space. It is where we placed our luggage, clothes, etc. If a couple suddenly has a huge argument while traveling, they can even sleep in separate beds! Haha. I don’t really recommend it, though. I think arguments should be solved before the night ends. 😉

6) Complimentary breakfast anyone?

Most hotels provide complimentary breakfast but some don’t. So I always check on complimentary breakfasts as well. I really don’t take complimentary breakfast as something important because quite frankly, it is the first time that I stayed at a hotel where I truly enjoyed their complimentary breakfast. If hotels don’t provide complimentary breakfast, it actually gives me more chance to try the local foods around.

However, if you do plan to stay at MaryGold Beachfront Inn then I would suggest you try their corned beef breakfast. I love their corned beef breakfast! I had it every morning for six days straight. Thinking about it now makes me drool. Haha. 😂

7) Keep your valuables safe

For the deluxe room, standard room or town side rooms, regardless of the room charge, MaryGold Beachfront Inn provides an electronic safe in all of their rooms. It is easy to lose valuables when you stay by the beach, especially during peak seasons. Yet, some hotels don’t provide an electronic safe for their guests, especially for affordable accommodations. We don’t really use the electronic safe as much as other guests do but it is nice to know that we can keep our things safe in times when we can’t bring our passport or other valuables to the beach. Sure you can lock the door of the room to keep your valuables safe, but the hotels’ employees may have a key of the room as well for housekeeping. At least with an electronic safe, you get to set the password yourself. Better safe than sorry right?

8) Be in the center of everything

The location of MaryGold Beachfront Inn is not just considered good, it is perfect! You can practically buy anything you need just around the hotel. Aside from the fact that you can ride the tricycle right outside the hotel gates, the stores are all very accessible too! You can roam around the place for souvenirs, clothes, soaps and restaurants. The drugstore is nearby as well. If you are feeling thirsty, there is a shake stand right in front of the gate and a 24/7 convenience store just around the corner. For island hopping trips, the boat departs on the beach side gate. How convenient is that?

9) Need a ride? Tricycle here!

MaryGold Beachfront Inn is not just a beach front hotel. It has two gates where one leads to the beach and the other leads to the town proper. Tricycles are all in line right outside the gates as well. They don’t fight over passengers as well because they have a line to follow unless you book the tricycles ahead of time. The tricycle drivers in El Nido actually fall in line and drivers are all so good-hearted as well. There was one time when I rode a tricycle just beside the road. The tricycle driver told me he’ll just drop me off at the tricycle lane free of charge. He said there are probably people falling in line to earn money. Since he already got his chance, he needs to give others a chance as well. There truly is still hope for the people!

Since I always go to places outside town proper, I always contact a tricycle driver in El Nido called Totoy for a ride in advance. he always falls in line outside MaryGold Beachfront Inn when he doesn’t have a ride.  He can tour you around the place as well and tell you the places that the locals go to. Totoy was the one who took us to different beaches in El Nido. He even bought aloe vera for me when I got an allergic reaction to L’oreal Paris Excellence hair color.

You can contact Totoy at +639193912460

MaryGold Beachfront Inn (formerly Marina Garden) in El Nido10) Perfect haven for divers

Right beside MaryGold Beachfront Inn is a professional PADI + SSI dive service in El Nido called Tabanka Divers. Tabanka Divers is the #1 dive shop in El Nido, Palawan ranked by Lonely Planet. You can also check out the reviews of the previous customers at TripAdvisor, or feel free to check on their Facebook page for updates. Their packages are affordable as well, ranging from ₱2500 to ₱4500 depending on the dive counts!

Tip: You can book them online for a discount

I met the one of the owner of Tabanka Divers called Oliver through a friend of mine who, I earlier mentioned, is currently residing in El Nido. Oliver is a good man who takes the safety of the customers and his employees really seriously. He personally loves diving and has been to all, which is more than 20 diving spots, in El Nido, Palawan. One of the unique packages that they offer is the night dive where there are neon lights being used underwater to view the wonders of the sea. So cool right?

While I was planning for our trip to El Nido, we deliberately looked for an accommodation near Tabanka Divers since it is the place my friend is frequently at. It was through searching the hotels around Tabanka Divers that led us to MaryGold Beachfront Inn. MaryGold should seriously thank Tabanka Divers for this! Haha.

And this sums up all the reasons why I chose to stay at MaryGold Beachfront Inn. Here’s a little video for you so you can see the actual look of the room we stayed at. I’m new to video editing so excuse my childish emoticons and silly editing skills. Hehe!

The place looks wonderful! The bright colors are really pleasing to the eyes and I love how their room looked like It is also great that you do not have to walk really far just to go to the beach. I guess I’m going to recommend this place to my mom when we plan to go to El Nido again. :) Thank you for the share!

Do you plan to go island hopping as well? I don’t recommend bringing the kids island hopping tours. But I do recommend visiting the inland beaches. They have atleast 5 beaches in El Nido. 2 of the beaches, Las Cabanas and Nacpan Beach are quite accessible :)

El Nido is still on my bucket list, I just have to wait for few more years so my son can enjoy the island hopping. I also prefer an air-conditioned room with an electronic safe. I’ll take note of this inn if ever we will go to El Nido.

The island hoppings in El Nido is more strenuous that than one in Boracay. Almost all of the islands you’ll be visiting requires swimming a distance from the boat to the beach. I would suggest you wait for your son to be a teenager before doing so if you wish to island hop in El Nido. However, you can enjoy the inland beaches of El Nido. Las Cabanas and Nacpan are two of the beaches that you should visit with your son! :)

That looks really inviting, waking up to that stunning view must feel amazing. I live by the sea and beach myself, but not as close at this. That breakfast looks like a rich dinner, how can one eat that much in the morning? But okay, it is all a bit different when you go on holiday, and the sea breeze makes hungry.

I plan to visit El Nido very soon, and this one was really a notch better than the ones I’d heard or read about. Staying near the beach is always a good option! So happy that MaryGold has the best value for money for budget travelers and the likes! :)
